Changes coming to Iowa Music Showcase

You're going to be seeing some new additions to Iowa Music Showcase.

Besides my (Dan OlderMusicGeek's) podcast episodes, playlists, and posts on other sources to hear and find Iowa music, we have added 3 new features!

JAZZMAN JOE VIDEOS - Jazzman Joe has a YouTube channel with literally hundreds of performances from Iowa's classical and jazz artists, as well as some from other genres. We will be featuring one of those performances every week on Friday on the website.

FESTER RAGE VIDEOS - Fester Rage is an amateur videographer who recorded various live performances from Iowa's punk and alternative music artists, as well as some other genres. We will feature one of those performances on or near the 15th of every month.

YOUR OWN PRIVATE IOWA - YOPI is an interview show hosted by Richard Sutton on KURE 88.5 Ames Alternative every Thursday from 7-9pm. He has an Iowa music artist talk about their work and what inspires them. The interview will appear on our website the following Wednesdays.

So stick with us as we expand our horizons to present more music and information on the music from Iowa!

I assure I'm not getting rich

I just want to let all the musicians who let use their work for free that I am not trying to make any money off their hard work.

This website and podcast is still a money LOSING enterprise!

But I am trying to get some extra money to use for promoting this website.

It does no good for me to scream and yell about how great Iowa music is if I'm talking to an almost empty room!

I want everybody to know how great our - and your - music is. To do, I need to promote this website more. And to do that, I need money.

So I will be monetizing my YouTube page, starting a Patreon account, among other things. But I assure that any money I make will go back into the website and not into my pockets!

Check out our advertisement disguised as a quiz!

Take the quiz that's really an advertisement!

See how you well know IMSC?

See how you compare to others?

Kill a few moments, that you can't get back, on a worthless internet quiz!

Some boring legal stuff you should know: Iowa Music Showcase is done on a zero budget. I don't make any money from it, and give it away for free. So I can't afford to pay any rights or fees.

Some episodes, though, are played on Code Zero Radio, and they do pay licensing fees for the songs they play.

Doing a slow down

Well, my few regulars will have noticed that not as many podcasts are coming out as quickly as before.

This is due to my day job. I'm putting a lot of extra hours. Sometimes 50+ a week.

And being an unfit, middle age family man. I can only do so much. So podcast is getting the raw end of the deal.

I'll try to put out at least one a month while this is going on. And continue to put out one of my Other Sources or a playlist or something on weeks without a podcast.

I'm not giving up and stopping. Just doing a temporary and necessary slowdown. When my work hours return to normal, the podcast will come out biweekly again.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

Apology for taking so long with part 2 of the Peace, Love, and Stuff retrospective

I promise you. I have been working on it, but 50-plus hour work weeks mixed, with a busy family life, has left me with little time to work on my podcast.

But part 2 of the Peace, Love, and Stuff retrospective is recorded. I just haven't had time to work on the blogs for the songs and extras.

But if you want a sneak peak you can have a listen here on  here on SoundCloud - https://soundcloud.com/iowa-music-showcase/iowa-music-showcase-episode-27-the-peace-love-and-stuff-retrospective-part-2-of-2/s-DJ8E1 - or here on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHaBq7P1Mrs.

New Halloween version of theme song

Just because I'm so excited by how well it turned out! Ross Kendall redid Dylan Boyle's theme song as if it were heard in a haunted church for our TWO upcoming Halloween episodes!

Podcast running a day or two late

Ran into a snag with one of the songs on the podcast and had to change it at the last minute. So the new episode may be a day or two late.

IMSC isn't dead! Just kinda comatose...

Sorry, people, but things are going be bit slower for a while.

Been working 50+ hour weeks on the day job.

And being a man in early fifties who could be in better shape, I can't handle a long work week, a family with wife, 2 kids, 3 cats, and a dog, and check out the local scene, plus do a podcast.

This middle age man doesn't have stamina. I can't give up work, and not giving up time with the family or local live music! So the podcast has to suffer.

But when my work gets back to a regular schedule, so will the podcast!
